This is about the Coachella Valley fringe-toed lizard and why we should save it. The Coachella Valley fringe-toed lizard (CVFT for short) lives in wind blown desert regions of california. This lizard is semi-small coming in at 6 inches at its smallest and 9 inches at its biggest. It is also designed to survive the heat and the sand so that why it has a wedged-shaped nose which allows it to burrow through loose, fine sand and still allow it to breath. It also has elongated scales that cover the ears to keep out sand, and specialized nostrils that allow it to breathe under the sand without inhaling sand. The lizard has a sand coloured back and a whitish colour on it's stomach. The lizards breed from April through August, their eggs hatch from late June to early September, although this is just an informed guess because no one really knows when they hatch. The lizard escapes heat by burrowing under the sand and because of it's special nose it can stay down there for as long as it needs to. The lizard eats a basic lizard diet bees, flys, ants, and leaves. This lizard is currently endangered, but there are a lot of people helping to save it. We should save the lizard because
